CHAPTER ONE

INTRODUCTION

1.1     Background to the Study

Formally, entrepreneurship is the willingness to take risks and develop, organize, and manage a business venture in a competitive global market place that is constantly evolving.  It is important to emphasis how closely tied entrepreneurship is to risk. It is one thing to have a capital for a business and it is another thing to make a proper choice of business. One can therefore opt for a good business owing to his huge startup capital, but once there are negative habits constantly practiced by the entrepreneur the business growth is hindered.

Alone, there are habits that may not seem like much, but when repeated, in conjunction with one another, ad infinitum, their destructive capacity can prevent your company from ever getting off the ground. The more proactive you are in noticing these habits, and the more determined you are in eliminating them, the better chance you’ll have at leading your business to long-term growth and profitability

The formal definition essentially tags entrepreneurship as the willingness to take risk”, as such, people do not succeed in entrepreneurship if they just jump into it without the necessary training for risk assessment.  By the way, even gamblers get trained Kelvin (2014). Sequel to the above, this seminar presentation takes a critical look at “making a choice of business and the negative habits of unsuccessful entrepreneurs.”

Finance: The researcher in the process of carrying out her investigation was confronted with financial difficult.  To carry out quality and sound research, involves money.  It therefore limits the number of sample areas and the sample population.

Time: Time factor was also a major challenge as the researcher had to combine academic activities with research work amidst other responsibilities, with the target of meeting up the duration allocated to this work.  Despite the constraints, the researcher was able to achieve her objectives through self-motivation.
